URGENT NEED

Dear Friends

Loaves & Fishes is helping approximately 600 families each week and our pantry shelves are extremely low. People in need come to us once a week for a box of supplemental food. That's 600 families, not individuals! Last month we spent almost $4,000.00 at Second Harvest Food Bank. This represents only a portion of what is placed in the weekly food boxes. The additional food comes from you, in the form of food drives and individual donations.
We all know our country has had a rough couple of years. As we go through our daily lives with our individual concerns, let us not forget those in our own community that suffer a life of poverty. If you are a church...would you consider having a food drive or print a list of our needs in your bulletin for a few weeks? If you are a school or civic organization would you consider having a canned food drive for us? If each of us picked up one or two items from our needs list you would be surprised how far the Lord would stretch it.
Remember Matt. 25:40(NIV) "I tell you the truth, whatever you did to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."

.."For I was hungry and you fed me;
I was thirsty and you gave me water;
I was a stranger and you invited me into your home;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me."

Matthew 25:35

The words of Matthew's gospel are as true and challenging today as they were 2000 years ago!

Loaves and Fishes was created in 1984 when a need arose to help feed the victims of two devastating freezes. Area churches combined their resources to create a ministry to help those less fortunate. Now, the need is even greater as the nations economic slump puts more people in desperate circumstances.

Loaves and Fishes is funded by contributions from churches, businesses, schools, civic groups and individuals. There are a number of churches that support our ministry in many different ways. Some offer to volunteer services and monthly donations, while others hold food drives to help keep our pantry full.

If you are searching for a ministry which practices good stewardship of your donations,
we are proud to share these facts:
   -We have only two paid employees !
   -Services and daily duties are provided by 94 volunteers.
   -We currently serve 550 families every week. These families are screened and proven to
       have legitimate needs. Loaves and Fishes feels God wants us to be good stewards
       with each and every donation.
